I started my medical career in anesthesiology, drawn to the precision of physiology and the art of balancing medication with care. But as the years went on, I realized I was increasingly drawn to the stories I wasn't hearing—the emotional lives of the patients I only saw in passing.
The work was important, but it didn’t allow space for curiosity, reflection, or sustained connection.
After nearly a decade in the OR, I decided to change course. I returned to NYU, this time to pursue psychiatry—a field that offered the depth I was looking for. What followed was not just a new chapter in my career, but a new way of thinking about people, health, and healing.
Now, my work is centered on understanding—not just treating—my patients. I feel lucky to sit with people as they make sense of their inner world and shape their lives with greater clarity and freedom.
